Dear Friends
Welcome and thank you for joining us this year to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Milton Public Library.
First and foremost, before looking forward to a hopefully banner anniversary year, we should take a moment to look back on our accomplishments this past year.
A grateful thank you to our former president, Lisa Malone, for her strong leadership and vision. Lisa was instrumental in increasing our membership by personal meetings with community organization members and the use of social media. Her relaunching of the Friends Facebook Page promoted our activities and the library’s programs to a larger audience. Additionally her computer expertise enabled us to digitize many of our files and update an array of forms and procedures. Lisa plans on continuing to volunteer with us. However, due to her expanding leadership role with the League of Women Voters of Sussex County, DE, it will be in a smaller capacity. She will primarily work to continue to grow our social media presence.
Dennis Hughes, who most recently served as Vice President, is now our President. He brings many years of community service expertise and leadership to the role. The remaining current members of the board, Janet Lank, Denise Snight and Lynn Wajda will continue to serve. We are also seeking current Friends members to expand their roles and take on additional leadership positions.
The Friends will continue to promote literacy, education and engagement by providing resources for library programs and services. To kick off the 150th Celebration, the Friends plan to pledge funds to the Library’s 150th Donation Awards Fund. Additional information regarding the Fund and different levels of support can be found on the library’s website and at the Friends gift shop.
Thank you! We are so grateful for your continued support!
